Ground to Saddle
Ground to Saddle offers a hands-on introduction to the world of horsemanship—no experience required. This six-week journey takes participants from caring for horses on the ground to confidently riding in the saddle. Each week builds essential skills, beginning with grooming, feeding, and daily care, then progressing to leading, tacking, and understanding equine behavior and communication.
By the end of the program, participants not only gain fundamental riding skills but also develop trust, confidence, and a deeper bond with their horse. Ground to Saddle is more than a riding course—it’s an empowering experience that nurtures patience, mindfulness, and the joy of partnership between horse and human.

Ground to Saddle is offered in 6 consecutive sessions to ensure steady progress for both participants and horses. Each class is designed to build upon the skills and concepts learned in the previous week, creating a rewarding learning experience. Because of this cumulative structure, consistent attendance is essential to receive the full benefit of the program, as well as maintain continuity with your horse.
Please note this class is not a “drop-in” or “punch card” class. We kindly ask that you provide a 24-hour notice if you’re unable to attend a lesson, so that we can adjust the lesson plans that affect our horses, instructors, and volunteers.
There are no makeup sessions or refunds for missed lessons. If Bits & Pieces must cancel a lesson, refunds or make-up lessons will be provided at our discretion. This policy helps us maintain the quality, rhythm, and integrity of our program while providing the best possible experience for every participant.
